Plaid Friday celebrates the diversity and creativity of local and independent businesses. It’s a fun and enjoyable alternative to the big box store “Black Friday” consumer frenzy. Also, it’s a way to show your support for our local economy. So plan to wear PLAID all day on November 27th!

Plaid Santa

Deep Roots Massage in Keene will host a video call with Santa Claus, live from his workshop!  Kids of all ages can visit with the big man himself on the big screen from 12PM-3PM in Gallery Alley next to the Colonial Theatre.  Buy gift certificates for massage online before December 31 at deeprootsmb.com and get 10% off, plus Deep Roots will donate 10% of all holiday sales to the Monadnock United Way.  Online sales only this year so they can reduce in store traffic to help ensure that you can relax when you visit for a massage.

Last year, Chuck’s interest in Plaid Friday was piqued after seeing a poster highlighting another Keene-based dog named Chloe. She was sitting outside of Prime Roast Coffee Roasters on Main Street, sporting a plaid coat complete with plaid ear coverings. Chuck was smitten.  Learn more about Chuck the Chinook!

Plaid Friday History

Plaid Friday was created in Oakland, CA to bring back the times when shopping for friends and family was a pleasurable leisurely activity.  Now it is celebrated throughout the nation as part of the Shop Indie Local Campaign.
